사물(도구)은 용도와 목적이 정해진 후 우리 앞에 존재하게 됩니다. 즉 본질이 있고 그 다음에 존재할 수 있는 것들입니다. 최초 사물에 부여 된 본질은 각 시대에 맞춰 변질되어 그 시대에 각인된 보편적인 관념으로 우리들에게 기억됩니다. 이 보편적인 관념을 바탕으로 사물의 원점에서 다듬어 가는 작업과 새로운 관념을 정립하기 위한 작업이 선행됩니다. 쉽게 더하기, 빼기, 붙이기, 잘라내기를 하는 작업입니다.
결국에 핵심적인 메시지와 본질에 충실한 기능과 전하고자 하는 내용이 중심이 되는 미니멀 디자인이 나오게 됩니다. 사물의 본질을 파악하고 그것을 크게 드러냄으로 부차적인 것들을 사라지게 만들어 사물의 본질을 효과적으로 전달하는 것이 저희의 역할입니다.
Objects(tools) may only exist before us after their application and purpose have been determined. They may only exist after the determination of their essence. The first essence bestowed upon an object is altered according to each era and is remembered by us as the universal concept engraved in its era. Based on this universal concept, the process of trimming from the starting point of the object and establishing a new concept is preceded. This work entails the act of adding, subtracting, attaching, and cutting with ease.
Ultimately, we end up with a minimal design focused on its core message, functionality true to its nature, and the message it's meant to convey. It is our role to effectively convey the true nature of an object by understanding the essence of an object and revealing this essence while eliminating other secondary elements.
